Documents of which Registration is compulsory
Under section 17 of the Registration Act 1908 the following documents are required to be registered and its registration is compulsory.
a) Gift deed of immoveable property
b) Other non testamentary instruments which creates or declare assign limit or extinguish whether in present or in future any right title or interest whether vested or contingent of the value of oneโs hundred rupees and upwards to or in immoveable.
c) Non testamentary instruments other then the acknowledgment of a receipt or payments made in respect of any transaction to which an instrument registered under clause(a) relates which acknowledge the receipt or payment of any consideration on account of the creation declaration assignment, limitation or extinction of any such right, title or interest.
d) Leases or immoveable property from years to year or for any term exceeding one year or reserving a yearly rent.
e) Non testamentary instruments transferring of assigning any decree or order of a court or any award when such decree or order or award purports or operates to creates, declare, assign, limit or extinguish or contingent, of the value of one hundred rupees and upward to or in immoveable property.
